New Independent Chair of the Change for Good Steering Group

We are delighted to inform our partners that Amanda Deeks has been appointed as the Independent Chair of the Change for Good Steering Group with immediate effect.

Amanda began her career in local government where she qualified as an accountant. She worked as a senior manager in the Health Service in Gloucestershire before taking up a post pioneering collaborative health and social care working in Herefordshire. She returned to local government to serve as Chief Executive of South Gloucestershire Council for fourteen years before retiring last year. She was extensively involved in the establishment of the West of England Combined Authority (WECA).

Since retirement Amanda has taken up a number of voluntary sector roles including as a secondary school governor, a trustee of Gloucestershire Young Carers and as a community representative on the county wide ‘Child Friendly Gloucestershire’ cross sector initiative. She was awarded the OBE in 2009 for partnership working in local government.

Clearly, Amanda brings lots of relevant experience, insights and partnership working skills to the role and we are very pleased to have been able to recruit her. This appointment further strengthens the leadership and governance of the Change for Good initiative.
