Spark Team

The Spark Team aimed to facilitate, support and enable individuals and organisations across the Golden Key partnership to make system change happen.

What is system change?

System change is about taking action to improve the way the system works for the people who use it; identifying blocks and addressing what isn’t working or understanding what's working well and doing more of it. System change can happen within one or across multiple organisations, services and communities.

The Spark Team approach to change

Our approach to change was flexible and responsive to the needs of the partnership. It focussed on investment in the people who made up the partnership, with the aspiration of activating a network of people who had the power and agency to, individually and collectively, make positive changes in the system for people with complex needs. Members from across the partnership have had been trained in Schumacher System Thinking training, giving them the tools required to instigate change.

Our Values

The following values were at the centre of the Spark Team approach:

  • Supporting people to take action. We held the belief that everyone has the opportunity, and is in a unique position, to influence change.

  • Valuing knowledge, experience & ideas. We trusted in people to use their knowledge, experience and ideas to co-create the future.

  • Empowering the people who do the work to make the change. We placed value in people understanding their motivation to create change and recognising that they have the power to take action.

Recognising connectedness. We were always on the lookout for connections and we recognised that connectedness can lead to opportunities.
